Michael & Maddy

Kookaburras swooping, vinyl spinning, ocean views and the most beautiful light. Just a perfect day.

Atop the hills of the Lorne Golf Club, white deckchairs lined the walkway overlooking the ocean as Maddy and Michael said their vows. Tearful, intimate and completely beautiful, exactly the kind of ceremony you hope for.

A warm March day set the scene for the Geelong-based couple. Nerves were present but quickly settled as we wandered the grounds together before the ceremony, chasing warm light and taking our time. No rushed poses, no Pinterest checklist. Just Maddy and Michael, soaking up the day while I followed along, quietly capturing their love from the edges.

After the ceremony, as the sun began its descent over the ocean, friends and family mingled on the lawn — accompanied by swooping kookaburras and a close friend spinning vinyl records in the background. The intimacy of their tight-knit group was palpable. People who had travelled from across the world gathered together in one place. It was hard not to get completely caught up in it.

As golden hour hit, we slipped away into the trees with my Mamiya RZ loaded with 120mm film. Honestly? Some of my favourite photos to date. Maddy and Michael nestled together amongst the trees, giggling, sneaking kisses, commenting on how good they both looked — completely unaware of how stunning it all was. Just two people, deeply in love, in the most beautiful light.

Back inside, guests were greeted with two long tables adorned with flowers and handwritten notes — a personal thank you to every single person in the room. The speeches were heartfelt, the meals were incredible, and the couple moved through the room expressing their gratitude to everyone who showed up for them.

By the time I packed up for the night, the dance floor was heaving, cocktails were flowing, and the bassline was getting louder. A perfect day that reflected everything Maddy and Michael are, warm, joyful and completely in love.
